Olivia Gillingham

Olivia Gillingham is a poet, visual artist, inventor, and all-around maker. She comes from a midwestern town with two rivers running through it. Afraid of swimming with a heart of water. She came out of her mother in a hot air balloon. She has hope for a new world yet.

Statement on this year’s theme, The Citizen Poet: Work and Reconciliation

  • Since I find myself in the mired structure of oppressive capitalism, my thought patterns shape poems about our survival, and the difficulties and impossibilities of any complete societal reconciliation until we see a shift in the paradigm.
